WORKSPACE CONTROL
Controlling Workspaces Using the Workspace Control Portal
The Uni-UI provides a portal called "Workspace Control," which is one of the default portals installed and activated when a workspace is created. The workspace Administrator - the person who creates the workspace - automatically receives access rights to this portal and can allocate access to other users as needed. This portal deals with the adaptive and dynamic aspects of workspace management, focusing on controlling the "behavior" and "capabilities" of the active workspace. It enables fine-tuning of how the workspace presents and exposes its content, and manages the workspace's ability to respond dynamically to various organizational requirements.
The following sections detail the specific functions and capabilities provided by the Workspace Control portal, which is organized into five main workbenches.
1. Services & Settings
Field-level authorization: Controls access to specific data fields based on user roles or permissions.
Scheduler setup: Configures automated tasks or processes to run at specified times.
Webform definition: Creates and customizes forms for data input and user interactions.
Web services configuration: Sets up and manages API endpoints for external integrations.
2. Templates
Assignments: Defines templates for task allocation and management within the workspace.
Browser-publications: Creates templates for interactive proposals and brochures accessible via web browsers.
Data Exchange policies: Establishes rules and formats for sharing data between different parts of the system or external entities.
Data Transformations: Specifies how data should be converted or formatted when moving between different systems or formats.
Messages: Designs templates for standardized communication within the system.
Object Synchronization: Sets up rules for keeping data consistent across different parts of the system.
Personal Workstation Console: Customizes the user interface for individual workspace interactions.
Qwikis: Configures templates for Bizcloud's built-in wiki creation tool.
3. Dashboards & Reports
Defining Dashboards and Dashboard Elements: Creates customizable visual representations of key data and metrics.
Creating Snapshots: Captures point-in-time data views for analysis or reporting.
Generating reports: Produces structured summaries of workspace data and activities.
4. Advanced Settings
Boilerplates: Creates reusable content templates for various purposes within the workspace.
Object Defaults: Sets up default values and behaviors for new instances of business objects.
Relabeling (Attributes, Lists, Portals, Workbooks): Customizes the naming and organization of various workspace elements.
UI Settings: Configures the overall look and feel of the user interface.
User Lists: Manages groups of users for streamlined access control.
Workbook Masking: Controls the visibility of specific data elements based on user roles or permissions.
Utility Preferences: Customizes settings for various tools and utilities within the workspace.
5. Control Data
Lookup Lists: Creates and manages predefined value lists to ensure data consistency and streamline user input.
Advanced Adaptive Aspects
The Workspace Control portal enables several advanced, adaptive features:
Object Defaults: Automatically populates specific attributes when creating new object instances, improving efficiency and consistency.
Object Exchanges: Facilitates copying document objects between workspaces, enabling data sharing between trading partners.
Integrations & Automations: Connects disparate systems and data sources to create a cohesive application network.
API Access: Provides REST services for interactions between web applications and the Bizcloud domain/workspaces.
Role-based Access: Supports various user types with different levels of access, from anonymous users to workspace administrators.
Workspace Interfaces: Offers multiple options for user interaction, including webforms, various UI systems, and integrations with external tools.
